I wish for
Summer days
Walking through grass barefoot
Paddling in lakes
Falling beneath the stars
Steal each others breath away
Hold on for tomorrow tightly
Clasping hands and smiling brightly
For we never need to depart
From each other
At all
Ever
And in those summer days
We will laugh at stupid jokes
And breathe the air we ought-a choke
On crystal drops that fall through clouds
Meet our parents
Smile politely
Fist impressions are unsightly
So’s the grass that’s in your hair
And mud that’s slid up one your legs
And the nicotine breath
And the slightly crumpled shirt
And your ripped and over-worn skirt
So we’ll listen to their words
Which go out the other ear
When we leave the room
Whispers will ensue
But we don’t care
Because we are here and now
And nothing
Nothing
Will ever separate me and you.
