Re: wheres the difficulty at????????
I agree, Silent Hill Homecoming for example was pants easy! Only struggled with one boss early in the game but the last boss was ridiculously easy and the puzzles could of been solved by my 4 year old cousin!
Completed in 3 days, I was sooo disapointed, I wanted an infuriating challenge!!
(I did love the game though

I agree too, I remember when my sister played Eternal Sonata, I wasn't really interested in it cause the game looked too easy, she never struggled with any of the bosses and finished it quickly.
Prince of Persia as well, I finished that game in 7 or 8 hours
I do love that game to death though

Re: wheres the difficulty at????????
yea i owned the new PoP (prince of persia) but i got to the warrior which was the last boss before the last guy and i got bored of it and traded it in because is monotonous and way to easy
from the way it looks as if game company's make it like that so that even a 5 yr old child could pick it up and play it with ease

Re: wheres the difficulty at????????
I have seen this trend for years and it is very sad. The most obvious area is console games. Best examples are Mario and Mega Man. Mario 1 and 3 were super hard, and then when they made Super Mario World on the SNES, it was super easy. By the time you beat the game you had hit the max # of extra lives. Mega Man 1-6 were some of the hardest games made for NES, and from SNES, to PS1, to PS2, they kept getting easier and easier. This did change recently when they made Mega Man 9 (in full 8-bit glory!) and made it downloadable for $10 on all 3 next gen consoles. I've played it and it is just as hard as the original games.
I've also seen this trend in PC games as well. Starcraft is still the best RTS out there. Why? Because it's still a pain in the a**, and fun at the same time. If you try to beat single player without cheats, you actually have to learn how to play the game, and then learn and create new strategies all the time. Some 8 year old couldn't sit down and beat it in two days like new games. (Age of Empires 3...)
I have a PS3 with some amazingly fun games. (Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear Solid 4, Ghostbusters, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, and more...) They are all super fun and enjoyable, but I have to admit, I haven't been challenged by any of them. And I know it's not because 'I'm older and have more gaming experience' because if I go back and play some older games they're still hard to beat.
I think it's because the gaming market is trying to reach a more wide audience by making their games beatable by anyone who buys it, but it really drops the replay value. I haven't picked up Spider-Man since I beat it, and I still haven't finished Ghostbusters, it was too easy and repetitive.
Times change I guess...
