Joss Whedon

Post by Akkarin on Sun Nov 23, 2008 4:24 am

Thought this could be a place to talk about shows this guy has done. I think it would be better to have a thread about him and his shows than for each individual show as those would get less posts in each thread.

I just saw Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. I thought it was pretty average until the end. That just lifted it up, in my opinion, and I quite like it now. Smile And the songs are quite catchy too. I've seen it twice so far.

I loved Firefly/Serenity, thought the first half of Buffy was alright, never watched Angel, and am looking forward to watching Dollhouse. Smile

I know, I sort of stopped watching Buffy about halfway through the series. It was just going off on quite the angle.

And definitely make sure you do watch Dr. Horrible! Smile The story behind it's creation is as follows..

During the Writer's Guild of America strike of 2008, Joss wanted to make a show/feature film that didn't undermine the efforts of the writers, with their strike. What he ended up doing was creating a 45 minute film split into roughly three 15-minute acts. He decided to distribute Dr. Horrible for free on the internet. Even the actors (quite notable TV actors like Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris!) weren't paid. They made a deal that they will be paid for the work done once the movie is released on DVD, which will be happening in a short while.

And I'll be getting the DVD release as it will be coming with extras. Smile
