WAKE UP CALL, WAKE UP CALL

*Lydia sighned sleepily and opened her eyes slowly, wondering whether she should stay in bed or not, but decided it would be more fun to find out what happened*

WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!

*Slowly Lydia raised from the bed and grapped a lovely rich deep red dressing gown hanging by her bed at took it on with a fast and trained hand, while pouring some thea from the day before in a cup and place it in the microwave*

EVERYBODY UP NOW PLEASE!! MEET IN FRONT OF THE COMMUNITY TRAILER AT ONCE!! THIS IS URGENT AND IT’S GOING TO BE YOUR TAILS THAT’LL GET SET ON FIRE IF YOU’RE NOT ON TIME!!!!

*she smiled a little as she took the now hot thea and poured a bit of sugar in it before going out into the quite cold morning (after her opinion) and wandered over to the group sipping her thea and listening to Humperdink, not really caring for what he says.
When he had finished she just looked up, sighned again, began to go back to the wagon and decided that instead of getting more sleep she could finish that dress she had been working on for one of the artists, now she already were awake.

“WAKE UP CALL! WAKE UP CALL!”

Gin blinked slowly, almost as if she hadn't heard a thing. She sat on a small stool outside of the tent that held most of the animals, like most days, she had already been awake for over and hour, and was taking the time to blush her glossy blue hair.

She was dressed in a black and white striped sleeveless top, very short white shorts, striped stocking and white rocking-horse shoes with wooden soles.

"WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!"

Even after the second call, she moved about her own slow pace, once she finished brushing her hair she grabbed the white ribbon that was in her lap and used it tie back some of her hair. Only when she had successfully tied the bow to her liking did she finally stand up, and stretch her gangly limbs.

“EVERYBODY UP NOW PLEASE!! MEET IN FRONT OF THE COMMUNITY TRAILER AT ONCE!! THIS IS URGENT AND IT’S GOING TO BE YOUR TAILS THAT’LL GET SET ON FIRE IF YOU’RE NOT ON TIME!!!!”

With one last look inside the tent she gave the animals a warm and caring smile before walking away towards the community trailer. Despite hearing the word 'urgent' her stride was slow and calm, when she reached the trailer she kept a small distance from the others as she listening to what had Humperdink's knickers in a knot.

As soon as she heard 'The Estates' she gave a displeased sigh, recognizing that this urgent meeting was a complete waste of her time and she immediately turned around and walked away from the community trailer and back to the animals tent. She sat back down on her stool, pulled her sketchpad and pencil from her bag, and began to sketch.

Actually, I was trying to be nice.

I really need to post again. I'll get around to that later today, probably an edit of this post.

Lucas lifted his head from his arms which were crossed across his laps. He blinked his eyes a few times to get them used to being open again and let out a yawn as he stretched in the armchair. Moving to the entrance, he looked outside from the community trailer and saw performers and circus staff walking in directions away from him. He got the sense that there must have been some kind of commotion earlier, but had been too engrossed in his dream to notice anything in the world around him.

He looked back at the community trailer where he was sleeping for the time being, and then went back to his armchair, laying his head down once more to drift off to sleep.

As Lydia walked back to the community trailer she notices the sleeping Lucas. She stops and looks at him while in deep thought, mumbling to herself

*someone hasn't learned that Humperdink means what he says...*

slowly a broad wolfgrin appears on her face and then she waves at some of the others, making it clear that they should be quiet as they comes over

Gin sat at the tent, no longer sketching, she was lost in her own little world of thought as she stared off into the treetops, watching the crows flap their wings and call out to one another. Her world of thought was interrupted by a young girl who came stumbling over to her with an uneasy expression on her face.

“G-G-Gin?” the girl stammered, her nervous face quickly taking on a defeated expression when Gin did nothing to acknowledge her presence whatsoever. Gin blinked slowly and continued to stare at the crows.

“M-miss Gin, do you not hear me!?” she barked, feeling indignant. Her brave streak left her instantly as Gin’s head suddenly turned to the right so that she could stare up at the young girl with her large silver-grey eye.

"What… do you…. want… dear child?” Gin asked, her haunting smile growing slightly wider as she watched the young girl trembling. As the girl made odd sniffling noises, Gin took notice of the envelope that the girl was holding had her name on it.

Gin turned away, directing her view back to the crows in the treetops, without even looking at her, Gin held out her hand and waited silently, her foot tapping lightly on the ground. She felt as the envelope was placed in her hand, and with a small, scared whimper, Gin listened to the sound of the girls frantic footfalls as she ran away.

“So, you wrote back to me, my sister.” She murmured to herself, staring at the name on the return address. She could already tell that the letter inside would not hold anything pleasant. Even in writing, she could always tell when her sister was mad… it was visible in the angry, almost illegible scribbles of her hurried replies.

She opened the envelope and read the letter twice before putting it away in her bag, she then stood up and walked into to tent, kneeling beside a large cage to pet the tiger she called Tina.

“Tina, my sister sent me a letter. She says that there is still something wrong with me, and that if I don’t stop what I am doing, she will come to one of my performances and personally put me out of my misery.” She spoke every word with a smile, and even made a thoughtful sound as she absentmindedly stroked the tiger back, her sister’s threats arousing not a single drop of fear in her.

“Oh Tina, whether my dear sister realizes it or not, I am not the same girl she left on the side of the road years ago, I am no longer the psycho that she abandoned! I have changed, I have become so much better than what I once was.” Gin’s voice was bitter, and sinister, but nothing could compare to the twisted expression on her face.

“She will see… in time…”

Re: The Circus

Post by Rutile on Thu Feb 28, 2008 2:39 am

Once again Ri woke up, blinking slowly at the ceiling as she gradually came back to the land of the living. She glanced at her clock, and cursed silently as she saw that not much time had passed at all since she'd gone back to bed.

With a venemous "Stupid Humperdink!", she got out of bed and stretched thoroughly, leaning back slightly as she spread out her hands towards the ceiling, then changed out of her rumpled clothes into gray sweatpants and a dark blue T-shirt with LachryMary, one of her favorite bands, emblazoned across it in white cursive letters. It was obvious she wasn't going to be getting any more sleep tonight- this morning, she corrected herself reluctantly- so she'd better go out and get a workout done before she went to the community trailer for breakfast.

Not that she wasn't going to completely pass it by the first time. No, indeed. She left her wagon with her brain sluggishly buzzing in anticipation of the arrival of its good friend, caffeine.

On the way to her workout site she spotted Lydia sneaking up on one of the newcomers- Ri couldn't remember his name- with a look of total mischief on her face. Sneaking up behind her, Ri whispered loudly in her ear, "Whatcha doing?"

Lydia jumps a half a metre into the air, startled by Ri. The she turned around with a look at Ri that would had killed her if it could, silently she whispered to Ri, hoping Lucas hadn't been waked by it all

*you should be careful of something unpleasant might turn up in your next costume...*

Then Lydia smiled, still whispering:

*it's just our dear newcomer, he, as the only one, decided to sleep while everyone else had to hear Humperdink rampling and thought no one would notice... And as far as I remember Humperdink talked about some burning tails if people didn't showed up...*

Winking to Ri, Lydia showed her some rope and other goodies to make Lucas remember to wake up when Humperdink calls

As soon as his eyes snapped open, Lucas jumped out of his chair over the left arm and took out the dagger he always hid on his body, for protection in worst case scenarios. He brandished it while subconsciously taking in the situation and his surroundings. He was having another vision during his sleep, interrupted at a violent moment. He was slighty hunched, his torso heaving under laboured breaths.

After standing for several seconds the vision ended, returning his clouded eyes to their normal state, and he straightened his body. He looked at the two women, the rope, and then the knife in his hand, clearly puzzled. "Can I help you, ladies?" He furrowed his brow as he was trying to piece together what was happening and why he was holding his blade so protectively. He put it away and looked right and then left, noting where he was. He looked outside and saw that not much time had passed since he went to sleep. At this he was annoyed, but didn't say anything.

giving up any hope of suprise him, Lydia straighted up and looked annoyed at him as he removes his knife after drawing it

*oh great, see what you've done Ri, I had looked forward to tease him sooo much...*

then she looks him straigth into his eyes with her iceblue eyes, going so near the she could poke him in the chest

*And you; I know you are a newcomer, but that doesn't give you the right to stay away from meetings, when Humperdinks says everybody, he means everybody! I should turn you in for not coming..*

then she tilts her head, suddenly smiling

*.. though the possibility that it is you that have taken that CD of his is kinda good.. And if you have I'm not the one to tell him where to find it. Actually I would give you a costume for free for that... So is it you?*

As she has worked herself up, she begins to dance around him as a little kid, not caring how strange it looks in her, quite mature, dressing gown

*come on, don't be shy, I tell nobody.. ANd i'll make sure that Ri won't either!*

winks to Ri

*right?*

Ri backed up as Lucas brandished his dagger, trying to decide on fight or flight; even after he came back to his senses and put it away, she still remained wary and did not take her eyes off him.

"Right?" Lydia's laughing voice broke through her thoughts.

"Lydia, come on," She snapped rather more forcefully than she meant to. "Call that a meeting? It was about a stupid TAPE, for crying out loud. Besides, I doubt this guy would have any reason to steal it. It was probably one of the usual pranksters. In fact," she added, "I wouldn't be surprised if it was you, and now you're just trying to foist off the blame on someone else."

She turned away and began to stalk off towards her workout site, resisting the urge to break into a jog. I don't like that guy, she fumed inwardly. He is so.... so weird, and we don't know anything about him. He could be a convict on the run, or an escaped asylum patient.... I mean, seriously, a psychic? That's so cliche. And what was he doing, freaking out like that? With a knife, no less? What a nutcase!

Pushing the man with the questionable background out of her mind, Ri got to the workout site and began stretching. Just as she was finishing up, Saturday came in, evidently of the mind to work out as well.

"Hey, Ri!" She greeted her co-performer cheerily. "I thought you were going back to bed."

"I was," Ri grumbled as she straightened up. Saturday caught on to her bad mood.

"What's wrong? Are we out of coffee?"

"Coff-" Ri's eyes widened. "Coffee! I forgot about my coffee!"

"You forgot? That's hard to believe. What happened, did you get distracted by a bomb in your wagon?"

"Oh, ha ha, Saturday." Ri ran off to the community trailer, calling back over her shoulder, "I'm gonna get some now, you start without me okay be right back!"

"Meeting... CD?" Lucas watched Ri depart from the trailer. I don't like that guy.... He is so.... He wasn't able to hear any more as she increased her distance from him. He held a hand to his temple and shook his head slightly, while exhaling. It was to be expected after what he had done. Lucas started smiling. Looks like I'm making friends already! Coming back to his senses, he looked at Lydia dancing about him. Bemused, he dealt with the matter at hand. "I'm sorry, I wasn't aware there was a meeting going on. I don't know about this CD, but if I see it, I'll be sure to hand it in."

He walked to the entrance of the community trailer; looking out, he took a deep breath in before letting it out again. "I wouldn't wake me up when I am sleeping. Often, I will be in the midst of one of these.. nightmares I tend to have; visions, if you will, though not all of them have come to pass yet. Interrupting one of them could lead to violent results. I dunno about you, you may be able to protect yourself, but I don't particularly want to go hurting myself, now." He turned to her and smiled and winked, with slight crow's feet appearing on the outer sides of his eyes as he does so; the toll these past 7 years have taken on his body subtly show through, from time to time.

Her eye sharp, her posture well balanced, though her smile was as bright as ever, Gin’s mind was very focused as she rode backwards on her unicycle. She enjoyed practicing on her unicycle every day, and she imagined that people found it amusing to watch her do various tricks, weaving her way around, hopping up stairs and jumping off anything she could.

She was riding away from the area where she and the rest of circus clowns trained. Normally, unless she was practicing for a group routine, Gin always came early so that she could practice alone. The other clowns had no argument with that, and seemed to prefer not practicing with her unless they absolutely had to.

But today, thanks to Humperdink’s antics, everyone was awake, and the clowns were all out training. Gin was agitated by this, she really didn’t want to be bothered, so she cut her training short and decided to ride her unicycle backwards to the community trailer, to get a little sustenance.

When she was close to the trailer she turned and rode forward a few feet before jumping off her unicycle and, without missing a beat, walking the rest of the way. The entrance was blocked by a figure standing there, and though she was staring at the back of his head, she recognized him as the new ‘psychic man’ Lucas. Looking over his shoulder, Gin spotted the young costume designer dancing around in her negligee.

Leaning against the entrance she crossed her arms and made an odd sound somewhere between a cough and a hiss to make her presence known.

“Why is it that I hear the announcements about meaningless CD theft, but not for the kinky negligee parties? I could have dressed for the occasion.” Gin chuckled, her usual smile was now a rather toothy grin as she stood and waited for Lucas to move aside. As she stood there, her piercing silver-grey eye stared at the back of his head, her mind began to wonder off.

~ So this is Lucas… the psychic. Up until now, I’ve only seen him in passing… is he really, truly psychic? If he is, will his presence be a blessing… or a detriment? This changes everything, I need to be very cautious. ~

Lost in her silent thoughts, for once, Gin’s smile flickered off of her face, but it returned within seconds

a bit sad over Ri harsh reaktion, Lydias dance slowed down a bit, pouting she shouted after her

*Of all the people in the world I would NEVER insult Humperdink... not more than I already do, atleast*

her twinkle in her eye showed again, and grew bigger when Lucas winked to her, suddenly becoming a lot more flirty

*well, I'll remember that.. not that I mind rough men, they're such a challenge and I love a good challenge <3*

leanding a bit forth at him, Lydia winked playfully and pinched his cheek, noticing how good he looked even with those small wrinkles.
Then she heard Gin and turned around, slightly annoyed, yet, after remembering that Lucas wasn't running anywhere, she opened her arms towards Gin

*sorry cupcake, a spontane spark of insanity, I'd had let you know if I could had reached you at the time...*

her face got an, not convincing, sad expression

*can I ever make it up to you?*

As Ri approached the community trailer, she saw two familiar faces and one faintly recognizable form. She groaned inwardly the moment she recognized the taller of the familiars. Oh, great, not him again....

For the last thirty seconds until she got to the trailer she was faced with a dilemma: Go past the freaky "psychic" guy in order to get her coffee? Or turn around like she'd forgotten something or whatever, avoid him, but sacrifice her coffee in the process?

Well, of course it was a no-brainer. But still. As long as he didn't jump her and go, "I've just had a VISION about your FUTURE!!! You're going to marry seven times and die happy with your last husband as a rutebega farmer," or whatever, she figured she could live.

It looked like Lydia was being her usual insane self again, as she stretched out her arms to the unfamiliar female figure and cooed sappily, "Can I ever make it up to you?"

"How about letting us in so we can get some sustenance.... Not to mention caffeine?" Ri asked as she drew level with the group. She grinned apologetically as she added, "Sorry about earlier, but you know how I am without my morning jolt, right?" That wasn't all of the reason, but it's not like she could tell her friend that; not with part of the reason standing right there.

As she spoke she glanced at Lydia's victim and finally recognized her. "Hey... Gin, right?" Another newcomer; kind of withdrawn, kept to herself most of the time. She seemed nice enough though, and at least she didn't claim to have any weird 'powers from beyond'. She also appeared to like animals a lot, which was always a plus in Ri's book. "How are you holding up so far in the circus?"
